Hello! My name is Carlie Frydman and I write about science and education.
I specialize in making complex scientific topics accessible to a general and diverse audience. I’ve been writing informally for years in personal journals, yet I began incorporating my science background into my writing during my graduate studies.
I have an M.S. in Nutritional Science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where I conducted research on the molecular mechanism behind Type 1 diabetes mellitus. My graduate thesis work synthesized the conflicting research on the role for a specific ligand/receptor interaction in the disease’s development.
I was a high school science teacher for much of my professional career, and loved debating controversial topics in science with my students as they grappled to understand the world around them. I reside in Denver, Colorado, where I regularly feed my passions of gardening, hiking, skiing, and cheesemongering as much as possible.
